Dear Doubting Thomas!

A Poem by Mercy Susanna

'Be merciful to those who doubt.' Jude 22

Photography by Mercy Susanna

Blend and bake three seahs of flour
Sunk in thought, not a child I bore
Broken, barren woman's cold
Sceptic, worn out, my master's old
Seasons don't you keep Sarah,
In a dozen or two, you'll see a lad
Ironic chortle swept her face
Incredulous mother of a gigantic race

Dear Doubting Thomas,
Is anything too hard for the Lord?

Gabriel to Galilee, fetch in Greetings
You highly bestowed, dame of blessings
Son of God will rise in the womb
For him, mankind will make no room
Birth of Christ, heavens bloom
Unless, otherwise, destruction, doom
House of Jacob forever, he's reign
"How will this be since I'm virgin?"

Dear Doubting Thomas,
Is anything too hard for the Lord?

Midst of the sea, tossed with the waves
The wind blew contrary, none who saves
Cried out in terror at the sight of a spirit
Courage my friends, it is I, not one to fright!
Peter! Come, move, walk the water through
Down out of the boat, step still as I do
Dark roars, oceans rage, hope to end about
Oh, you of little faith, why did you doubt?

Dear Doubting Thomas,
Is anything too hard for the Lord?

Incredulity, dubiety state of mind
Spread His arms in love to find
Doors being shut, stood in the midst
Reach out your palm, sense as you thrust
Nail marks, bruises, holes in the hands
Callus feet, side flesh expands
My Lord, my God, where was my faith?
Oh, poor Didymus! Believe! He saith

Dear Doubting Thomas,
Is anything too hard for the Lord?

Inspired by the message given by Bro. Samuel John K. when struggling with one of my hardest parts of life, while I cried out to the Lord to help my unbelief. Yes, He did, 'cause He is merciful. Jude 22 :)
